Product Designer Bryant Chan

Birmingham Institute Of Art and Design 2013 Product Design graduate Bryant Chan has designed this fascinating project to conserve water. Chan designed a faucet inspired by the flow of water itself, the rendered images below show a sleek flowing product with a polished surface mimicking the look of water in motion.

Using a colour coded system the faucet will measure water usage each month and indicates how much you have used. Blue = normal consumption, green = reaching excess and red = water consumption exceed.  The idea behind this eco friendly project was to design products that encourage people to think more about sustainability and eco-friendly living.

Using a simple system that quickly communicates to the user the water consumption levels is a great to help reduce wastage. The contemporary design of the faucet helps to bring a ‘cool factor’ to eco friendly products – I would want one of these in my house! Creating products for just sustainability isn’t enough, you have to go a step further and create a desirable design that is eco-friendly and encoruages people to buy these products.
