Pop Up Shop Glasgow

Last night’s Pop Up shop in Glasgow at the Kelvingrove Cafe was awesome!  It was a great atmosphere buzzing with people eager to see the new products and meet the designers behind these creations. The venue itself fitted the pop up shops ethos well with its trendy appeal and lighting that conveniently helped to illuminate each designers products. The make shift spaces for Pop Up shops create a fantastic experience.

Silvia Pellegrino owner and designer at Chouchou designs head scarfs known as Hollyhoods in contemporary and vintage textiles which are handmade in Scotland.  Pellegrino’s combination of contemporary and vintage inspiration results in a design that can be described as a retro playful style. Using tartan and rich patterns offset with vibrant colours creates a unique and beautiful fashion collection that hints at Pellegrino Italian flair and her free-spirited, bohemian lifestyle.

Nikki McWilliams traveled from Dundee to Glasgow especially for this Pop Up shop in Glasgow where she could show off her fantastic designs. McWilliams colourful and fun cushion designs are inspired by British culture, contemporary Pop Art and McWilliams ‘lifelong love of having a nice cup of tea and a biscuit’. Mmm pillow biscuits, McWilliams designs included Tunnocks Caramel Wafer pillow, Party Rings pillow and her new collection of pillows – the biscuit miniatures!

Jane Gowans a contemporary jeweller from Dundee was in Glasgow with her fab collection. Gowans jewellery designs are simple and stylish that captivate her audience. Inspired by everyday life Gowns embraces an experimental approach to designing and making her jewellery while keeping an emphasis on the quality of  handmade jewellery.

Designer Hilary Grant heads a luxury knitwear label based in Scotland. Warm and cozy scarves, hats and gloves combined with a simple, classic style and bold patterns create a fun and friendly collection. Grant’s designs have a sense of winter time nostalgia with contemporary overtones. Using clean simple graphics Grant’s designs maintain a timeless charm.

Glasgow based specialised bag designer Trakke was there too with there new bum bag and Bairn designs that feature an exciting kaleidoscopic of colour. The bumbag and Bairn design looked great and are made using the same tough ethos that goes into the making of every Trakke bag. These new additions to the Trakke range will be available to buy soon.

All in all what a great Pop Up shop! The variety of designs and designers was fantastic. There was something for everyone at this event.
