Neal McCullough of the Hand Drawn Creative produces these fantastic almost vintage styled illustrations. The attractive bold colourful illustrated prints look awesome. McCullough started the Hand Drawn Creative in 2008 after spending 10 years working in Graphic Design and Advertising. If you remember 2008 was a tough old time and lost of people lost their jobs including McCullough but it was then that he started the Hand Drawn Creative and began producing his fab illustrations. McCullough mentions that in the time before starting the Hand Drawn Creative and losing his job that he was declined for a job interview designing labels for a cheese company. Just think how amazing those cheese labels would have looked! Since opening an account with Etsy and getting in contact with bloggers McCullough has been working away on variety of illustrations for many different clients.

INDIE PRINCESS

The INDIE PRINCESS is a great illustration. McCullough’s illustrations captures the exact shape of what makes a recognisible form, there is no unnecessary lines or shading in his illustrations  The energetic blue in the background of the INDIE PRINCESS highlights the characters figure while the princesses posture and hair portray a feeling of energy. The trendy upbeat nature of the image is further highlighted with the stilettos and guitar.

Double spread for Money Magazine

The double spread drawing for Money magazine by McCullough is fantastic! The energetic and simplified forms of the drawing really capture a happy and productive image. Looking at each window there is different figures in different positions which help bring the drawing alive. In the middle top window of the orange building I see a guy with a cup of tea or maybe its coffee or maybe its vodka – depends on the person really.

The Indie Crush #1 is another one of McCullough great illustrations. The bold use of colours make up instantly recognisable forms as well as small details in the shoes, guitar and bottle hinting at the trendy characters personal tastes.

At the Hand Drawn Creative all of the prints are done in short runs meaning McCullough signs and numbers most of the prints giving you a unique and personal piece of art work – how great is that! You can find the Hand Drawn Creative here or visit the shop here.
