Hole in my Pocket

Allistair Burt is the founding member of the duo known as Hole in my Pocket, their  multi-disciplinary creative antics include film, painting, sculpture, design, architecture, illustration and building Victorian Storytelling Machines! The super active duo have in ‘recent times’ (the 21st Century) produced and directed short films for Channel 4, written short stories, created the Small World Experiment, tried to sort out the MP’s expense fiasco through a creative solution and formed their own religion.

 Brass Band Russian Dolls

The Brass Band Russian dolls created by Allistair Burt are a fantastic collection of little characters! The set includes the Bear on Trumpet, Pig on Cymbals, The Conductor, Fox on Drums, Dog on Accordian, Goat on Banjo, and Parrakeet on Triangle.  The quirky set created by Burt exuberants the fun light hearted attitude of the Hole in my Pocket studio.  Oh I am torn between choosing my favorites characters of this set is it the Bear or Parrakeet?

Bluebeard

Burt has been working away on a new series of ‘loved up’ cards that correspond nicely with Valentines Day. The card above features a love smitten pirate called Bluebeard with a wuvly greeting ‘YOU ARRRRRRR SO WONDERFUL’. This latest card be found at the Hole in my Pocket Folksy shop here.

The man with the card board head

This happy cubed shaped smart dressed character is in fact living in fear, in fear of rain! But despite this he appears to be a cheery fellow as indicated with the button eyes, large smile and bounce in his step.  The simple line drawing by Burt radiates happiness!

 Ice Letters

Further adding to the diverse skills of the Hole in my Pocket team; Burt is seen here sculpting letters from ice. Burt describes the process as ‘laborious’ and cold! “making these ice letters as it was extremely laborious and required me to solve the problem of what to do when the thaw arrived and I was only as far as H.” – Allistair Burt. These ice cold letters have featured in the book 3D Type.

Victorian Storytelling Machines
Burt’s combination of vintage and retro design has created this great looking Victorian Storytelling Machine. The Phonograph cylinder’s giant leavers, spiral colours and brass finishes create a fun and wacky aesthetic. For me, the only way to listen to this machine would be to do so while wearing a top hat.
